Stroll
into Upstream and you may feel you've entered one of the
hot and happening restaurants of San Francisco or
Manhattan . . . until you notice the sparkling North
Carolina flag reproduction at the end of the bar. This
gorgeous establishment, where seafood in all its
incarnations is artfully prepared and happily devoured,
includes a large bar area where the fruits of the vine
enjoy equal adulation with the fruits of the sea. A Wine
Spectator Award of Excellence winner, Upstream offers a
list of over two dozen by-the-glass selections.
On the ever-changing menu, guests may choose to enjoy
starters such as pan-seared Prince Edward Island black
mussels prepared with smoked tomatoes, roasted garlic,
white wine, shallots, and fresh herbs. Entrees include
lovingly crafted dishes like porcini-crusted Maine
dayboat halibut with spring asparagus, white Alba
mushrooms, baby carrots, and summer black-truffle
butter. |
