TRIP's Review of Pewter Rose
At
Pewter Rose, your dining experience will be
surrounded by lush greenery, original local art, and an
eclectic blend of furnishings from antiques to the
1950s. The restaurant and
nightclub occupy
the second floor of a turn-of-the-century textile
warehouse. Its original massive wood beams and soaring
30-foot ceilings, flanked front and back by walls of
French paned glass, provide a unique atmosphere for
dining and socializing.
With a unique menu
referred to as "internationally-American," Pewter Rose
draws on the diverse, ethnic, and cultural heritage of
the United States, relating it to the palate of the
region. Local produce, fresh seafood, poultry, beef,
pork, game meats, and vegetarian items are all
interpreted in unique yet comfortable ways. The
extensive wine list features over 500 selections and has
received numerous awards from the prestigious Wine
Spectator Magazine.
Starters include scallop
and shrimp balls mixed with ginger and five-spice
powder, rolled in sesame seeds, deep-fried, and served
with a chili-plum sauce and a cheese plate with 10
cheeses from around the world. Featured entrees include
Chesapeake Crab Cakes served over a bed of organic baby
greens tossed with sweet pineapple, oranges, port-soaked
cherries, and lemon-pepper vinaigrette. |
