Daniel
Stowe Botanical Garden is located south of Belmont on
the banks of Lake Wylie. These 450 acres of rolling
meadows and woodlands are destined to become one of the
premier gardens in the world. The 13,500-square-foot
Robert Lee Stowe Visitor Pavilion has a gift shop,
meeting rooms, classrooms, and a grand special events
area.
Just outside the pavilion
are meticulously groomed formal gardens; natural
woodland, meadow, and wetland areas; greenhouses with
tropical plants; and myriad annual and perennial
flowers, shrubs, vines, and trees.
The newly opened Orchid
Conservatory is the area's only public conservatory
devoted to the display of tropical plants. An 8,000-
square-foot, five-stories-tall sparkling, crystalline
structure, the conservatory surrounds patrons in a lush
environment of color, fragrance, sound, and the world's
finest orchids and tropical plants. The garden also
offers a variety of education opportunities through
workshops and classes. |
